STEDIA Divine Nursery and Primary School was established on September 27, 1999. It started with fifty pupils in a bungalow at number 11, Jebutu Street, Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos State. The school started with eight teaching staff and one non-teaching staff. The school started with Kindergarten, Nursery and Primary sections.
The school continued to progress, and by the second term of that same session pupils started writing Common Entrance Examination.
On September 26, 2005 the secondary school commenced with Junior Secondary One (JSS1). The school started exhibiting several co-curricular activities such as Inter-house Sports Competition, Cultural Day Programme, Colour Day, Science Exhibitions, Excursions and Competitions with other schools.
Also, by that 2005, the primary school was approved. By 2014, the secondary school too was qualified to write the Lagos State Examination.
By God’s grace, STEDIA Divine School has produced graduates who are First Class in various universities in Nigeria and abroad.
Every class at our school is filled with purposeful activities that provide kids lots of chances to participate in the learning process by using practical materials. We embrace the adage, To learn it! Take action!
Research has shown that children learn best when they are active participants in their own learning rather than passive spectators. We believe that children are competent co-creators of their own knowledge. Hence, we create playful learning experiences that embrace their natural curiosity, laying a solid foundation for deep learning to occur.
Often, the resultant effect is that our learners are able to show what they know in real and varied life situations.
Among them are: effective communication and collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Others include: initiative, decision-making, negotiation, citizenship, and financial and digital literacy.
We do not know how different life would be 20 to 30 years from now but we know that many jobs would be wiped off the list of employable jobs. It has been established that the above skill set would set the children’s future learning, life, and career on the path of success.
Fun-filled activities are a hallmark of education at STEDIA Divine School. When children are having fun, learning becomes emotional and unforgettable, literally. So while we learn the serious stuff, we include different types of play, in the midst of the jiggling the love for learning and for the teacher is heightened, and voila! transformation occurs.
Play-based learning is multisensory and fulfills the interest of the predominant learning styles of our learners found in any class: the auditory, visual, tactile, and kinaesthetic learners. No child is left behind!
Our children are taught to use applications to create projects or presentations, solve problems, and increase their learning ability.
Our teachers utilize technology in the teaching and learning process as well as in assessing what children know and are able to do.
One way in which this is done is by having many of our lessons gamified electronically. Children absolutely love games because it provides a no-pressure, fun environment where they are allowed to make their mistakes in peace, and where they are permitted to try over and over again without being judged until they fully master the concept!
Our teachers therefore, undergo weekly and periodic continuous professional development sessions, preparing them for the onerous task of teaching.
